Sadism is can be largely defined as the act of someone receiving pleasure from inflicting physical and mental abuse on another person.
Sadism is usually tied together with Masochism, in which people
receive pleasure from someone inflicting physical abuse on them.
Usually sadists not only receive pleasure from inflicting pain, but
also feel pleasure from making the other person feel humiliated. The
types of acts that the sadist derives pleasure from includes, bondage
or the use of restraints, whipping or beating, and cutting or burning
other people.
The symptoms that are associated with Sadism include:
* Intense fantasies and sexual urges that must be acted upon
* Pleasure derived from providing either physical or emotional pain and humiliation
* Behavior that causes social distress and leads to social and occupational difficulties
