    Sleeping pills are medications prescribed to help someone fall asleep.
    The most common sleeping pills are Xanax, Ativan, Restoril, and Ambien.   The medication is taken by swallowing the amount of pills prescribed by the doctor.

    Sleeping pills consist of a group of medication associated with tranquilizers that depress the nervous system, leading to decrease heart and breathing rate.

    The resulting drowsiness that accompanies taking the pills helps the user to fall asleep.  As a result, it is this is an extremely serious addiction to develop because of their ability to act on the nervous system and cause sleep and drowsiness.

    At increasing doses or when mixed with alcohol, the central nervous system functions can become depressed resulting in coma or death.

     The common symptoms associated with ingesting sleeping pills are:

    * Drowsiness and sleepiness
    * A relaxed feeling
    * Reduced anxiety and tension

    The treatment involved with someone addicted to sleeping pills should be customized for each individual. Generalyl treatment involves:

    * Enrolling in a drug rehabilitation or detoxification program
    * Drug Abstinence
    * Behavioral Therapy

    I actually think I'm addicted to the feeling of being tired when its aided by a pill or not, I unconsciously fight the feeling resulting in a drunken like state. I find myself fighting sleep until I can't go to sleep at all and work without sleep, then sleep for days, then go without sleep for days. This has been a cycle for me since I was about 13 years old, I'm now 26.

    sleeping pills              Reply to this Comment
    Whenever I'm having a bad day or something I just go for the sleeping pills. Falling asleep for long periods of time somehow helps me feel better and think that everything will go away but it doesn't and its a cycle that keeps going on and on...

    info about ativan              Reply to this Comment
    I am really worried about the medications of many people use... thats the reason because show that theme to you... The Drugs like the ATIVAN the most important things about ativan The Ativan (Lorazepam) is a benzodiazepine with CNS depressant, anxiolytic and sedative properties. Peak serum concentrations of free lorazepam after oral administration are reached in 1 to 6 hours. Peak concentrations are reached in 60 to 90 minutes after i.m. administration and in 60 minutes after sublingual administration. Lorazepam is 85% bound to plasma proteins. Lorazepam is rapidly conjugated to an inactive glucuronide. Very small amounts of other metabolites have also been isolated in man. The serum half-life of lorazepam is approximately 12 to 15 hours while the half-life of the conjugate is 16 to 20 hours. Ninety-five percent of the drug was excreted within 120 hours, 88% in the urine and 6.6% in the stool. In the same calification we can find drugs like Vicoprofen, that drug is supplied in a fixed combination tablet form for oral administration. VICOPROFEN combines the opioid analgesic agent, hydrocodone bitartrate, with the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) agent, ibuprofen tha means is a semisynthetic and centrally acting opioid analgesic. Vicoprofen is a combination of an opioid analgesic (pain reliever related to narcotics, hydrocodone) and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (ibuprofen). Both medications are effective against pain. It is estimated that one tablet of Vicoprofen is as effective as two tablets of Tylenol #3 (acetaminophen 300 mg plus codeine 30 mg). Vicoprofen was approved by the FDA in 1997. This medication is used for short-term relief of pain. It is not recommended for such chronic conditions as arthritis. This medication is taken by mouth, usually one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as necessary for pain. Dosage should not exceed 5 tablets per day. Treatment is for 10 days or less unless otherwise directed. Follow all instructions exactly to receive good pain relief. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if your pain is not relieved. Take this medication with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. After a period of time, this medicine may not work as well. If this occurs, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Prolonged or excessive use of this product may cause dependency (or addiction). Do not increase your dosage or use more often than directed. Hydrocodone is habit forming. It is possible become physically and/or psychologically dependent on the medication. Do not take more than the prescribed amount of medication or take it for longer than is directed by your doctor. Withdrawal effects may occur if hydrocodone and acetaminophen is stopped suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Your doctor may recommend a gradual reduction in dose. Lortab, this is Hydrocodone (related to codeine) is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. It relieves pain, the Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone. Together, acetaminophen and hydrocodone are used to relieve moderate-to-severe pain. Lortab may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. you can find more information about these themes and another ones in our website www.crdrx.com Have a great day

    How do I help my mom              Reply to this Comment
    My mom has taken sleeping pills and antidepressants for about 10 plus years what do I do to help her get off them. They are destroying her. She has tried to kill herself. She takes soooo many pills at a time before bed and drinks alcohol to. Her doctor just keeps giving them to her and I know she will overdose eventually. She is a very stubborn hot tempered person when it comes to her being right, I am scared she will disown me if I were to tell her doctor about how she abuses her prescriptions. She is always in a daze never listening to what I say totally in denial about what the effects are of her meds. help me please I want my mom back I haven't seen the real her in about 15 years. I miss my mom and she needs help.

    How Can I help my husband?              Reply to this Comment
    My husband is a Gulf War Veteran. He has gotten to the point where he drinks alcohol nightly, and whats worse is he is now taking ambien every night. He used to take tylenol pm or simply sleep. I started seeing a different brand, or a different size bottle at least once a month, but he explained it away. I recently asked our Dr. to quit giving him refills because of the drinking, but my husband continues to mix alcohol with what seems to be an addiction to ambien. Is rehab the only way to help him? He refuses to see the problem.

    Sleeping Pills              Reply to this Comment
    I'm just now realizing that I'm addicted to sleeping pills. I rely on them for sleep. I rely on them to help me relax. I cannot take them as prescribed because, it won't work. I need two of them to sleep. I cannot function without sleeping pills. Now that I haven't had any sleeping pills I'm anxious, nervous, jittery, and not able to sleep still. Yes, I'll admitt without shame that I'm addicted to sleeping pills and I need help to overcome this addition.

    I'm completely hooked              Reply to this Comment
    Every day I take about 8-12 Nytol, which is an over-the-counter sleeping pill sold here in the UK. The feeling you get when they kick in is great, but they always leave you feeling like crap. They don't have the same effect as prescribed sleeping pills, such as Zolpidem or Zopicone, which I pretty much rely on to sleep. The Nytol, for me, is like cigarettes for other people. I just pop them casually and they make me feel happy and relaxed. Zolpidem, on the other hand, don't make you feel happy, they make you feel euphoric and at peace with the world. I'm 20 years old. I can't kick this addiction but I don't know how to tell people I need rehab

    solution              Reply to this Comment
    you should not just sleep cuz you think it will go away, this makes things worse. things or problems better yet can start piling up, and become a bigger burden. you have to find someone to talk to and that feels like you in a way. it is the best thing to do and will help out A LOT! just saying, i know what its like ive been there, might still be, but not as much

    i also mix ativan and xanax with vodka quite regularly. Not good but the price i pay for insomnia is worth it. I even mix rohypnol(flunitrazepam with vodka to help me sleep, not even 5mgs of roofies with 5 vodkas can put me out. I am screwed.
