just get help              Reply to this Comment
Hi, I am 14 and manic-depressive. I was just hospitalized a week ago and got out today. It was very scary and everything, but if you go to the right hospital, THEY WILL HELP YOU. My meds needed to be stabilized and everythng and now, I actually feel normal again. It isn't yor fault so don't be ashamed to ask for help. I did it and I'm a teenager. I was planning on hanging myself the day before I went in and they saved me. Just be brave, you can do it. Good luck.

no more cutting...              Reply to this Comment
I haven't cut for almost a year. What worked for me, Jesus! I had tried meds, Dr.'s, psychiatrists, counselors...nothing helped till I found JESUS. Revival came to our church one day and I went down to the alter and cried. I needed help or I was going to die. I learned to die for Jesus instead. Give Him my problems, for He is the one in control. The main thing is to know why you cut? In the Bible Mark 5:5 , a man in the tombs cutting himself. Jesus came along and gave him power over it. God can help if you believe and trust in Him. After many years of cutting, it had become an addiction, and I still want to at times, but I know God will help me through if I ask Him to. Worked for me anyway.

My daughter is 13 and has started cutting. I need to know what kind of therapy or what kind of counseling she needs? Please help me get help for her. I need to know where to take her. Thank you, ~J~

Dear ~J~              Reply to this Comment
Your daughter needs any therapy you can get for her. Formost you need to know where the anger/hurt is coming from. Let her know she is not alone in this. There are many like her. Yellow pages, many counselors. I would like to see a christian counselor talk with her though. I was medicated for years for problems that happened to me or choices I had made in my life and I didn't want to deal with them, I wanted to die, so they medicated me. Finally, since CHRISTmas, I am med. free and feeling the peace and joy in my life again. Just make sure you do seek help for her. She needs to get out whatever it is that is bothering her.

I was hospitalized for manic-depression a few weeks ago and I have had some stressful things happen to me after I've been out for a while and I want to cut, so bad. It's my way of releasing pain. It's hard not to, but if I can stop myself, so can most people who come to this website.

    SCHIZOPHRENIA              Reply to this Comment
I THINK MY BROTHER IS SUFFERING FROM PERINOID SCHIZOPHRENIA AND I WANT TO HELP HIM BUT HE DOESN'T WANT ME TO HELP HIM, HE IS BECOMING A DANGER TO HIMSELF AND TO OTHERS AND IS BECOMING VIOLENT AND THINKS THAT PEOPLE ARE FOLLOWING HIM AND WATCHING HIM ALL THE TIME. HE HEARS VOICES INSIDE HIS HEAD AND OUTSIDE HIS HEAD, HE IS CONSTANTLY FIGHTING WITH THEM. HE IS CURRENTLY IN JAIL FOR SETTING HIS TRUCK ON FIRE. HE TELLS ME THAT SOMEONE PUT A MICROPHONE AND SPEAKERS AND A CAMERA IN HIS TRUCK AND WAS TALKING TO HIM AND WATCHING HIM AND HE FREAKED OUT AND SET THE TRUCK ON FIRE. MY OTHER BROTHER WANTS TO HAVE HIM COMMITTED AGAINST HIS WILL BUT I DON'T WANT TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE FOR HIM. HE IS CURRENTLY ON MEDICATION BUT I DON'T THINK IT IS THE RIGHT MEDICATION FOR HIM. PLEASE HELP ME!!

His Bright Light              Reply to this Comment
His Bright Light is a book written by Danielle Steel and it is a very, very touching book. It is about her son Nick Traina who was diagnosed with manic-depression in his teens and killed himself when he was 19. She shares her story and it was the one thing that steered me in the direction to get help. I read the book and cried like a baby, but I realized that I may have a problem. I highly recommend it for anyone having a hard time coping with their illness or loves someone with bipolar. Seriously. Read it. Thanks.

    Autism/PDD              Reply to this Comment
As a parent with a son with Autism I am unhappy to see this disorder listed with severe mental health illnesses and drug problems. I do not think your center is an appropriate place for someone with this type of need. Too often over zealous therapists think they can help someone with experimental therapies. After 20 plus years, I learned that compassion and patience are all that is required. Please do some research and do not mislead an already confused public regarding this disorder.
