One of the most beautiful aspects of life is the relationship and love between a mother and child. To go through life without a mother's love can be very difficult. Linda Sommer Farley was born in Springfield, Illinois. Her book -A Childhood Taken Away by a Mother and Grandfather - tells us what life was like for her growing up. She shares with us the difficulties of having a mother with a gambling addiction and how it effected her through out her life. Linda came from a large family, she was the sixth of eight siblings. She was solely responsible for her younger siblings when no one was at home. She expresses her embarrassment of growing up poor and the challenges she faced throughout her school years due to her poverty. Linda also allows us to feel her pain, her fear, and her total loneliness when her grandfather abused her. In her book she describes the difficulties and accomplishments she has experienced in the painful and sometimes humorous times of her life. Linda Sommer Farley’s reasons for her book are simply to reach out to others. Her book is inspirational as well as motivational. A Childhood Taken Away by a Mother and Grandfather, This book can be purchased at: Barnes & Noble.com - Book Search: Linda Sommer Farley
