Addict and Father              Reply to this Comment
My son is six months old and only sees his father on saturdays for two hours. Drugs and alcohol addiction cause him to be violent and unpredictable. Of course he is in denial. I asked the court to do a drug and alcohol assesment but is it truly effective or can he lie about his addictions? Did I do the right thing? I only want to protect our child. Are there any other options? Help Please...

I hope your not with this guy still. You should never let a man run your life. I lost my kids and I've been going crazy. Try talking to people who have done this.

drug addiction/poverty = dead end              Reply to this Comment
i have two very close friends who have become addicted to drugs. one became addicted to meth/crack/cocaine and has now become missing and on the streets. the other now lives with me and has been going to the methadone clinic on the handouts of friends. i work and go to school full time and do what i can. it is not enough. if you have made it to this posting and have read all the other postings you will understand the current state these people are suffering. less than 1% of the ceo's salaries in this country could produce thousands of productive citizens. please push your local governments and businesses to help these people help themselves!

Is my son on drugs?              Reply to this Comment
My 17yr old is on something,I'm not just some crazed mother. He has changed alot over the last 3 yrs. I moved away from his friends because he went from being an A-B too a big fat U. So I moved to lebanon to get away from things.(his so called friends). Then things went crazy. For a very sad reson I had to move back. (My 11 yr old passed away). O.K. back to the big one. When we got back to knoxville I was the "mom who son died". So I let Robert be with his friends. Now it's been almost 2 yrs. And things are really crazy. Last year I asked my Dr. to drug test him because he was not the same kid I gave birth to. not the same little boy who every teacher wanted to take home.. But a angry boy, not from being sad over his brother's death but something else. I would find ink pens taken apart and think nothing of it .Until I seen a tV show on kids on drugs,I seen every thing in that 30 min. show. That I've been dealing with for over 3 yrs...

my sister              Reply to this Comment
My sister is killing my mother and father. How do I help them???? My sister is 29 years old and shows no signs of getting over her narcotic/alcohol addiction. She lies and uses everyone around her to get to her next high. She has also been diagnosed with 'Personality Disorder'. She has attacked her whole family with lies and manipulates the people assigned to help her. Why can they not put her away somewhere? How can my parents find the help they need to help her??? How can my family help them??? Sounding cold or not to my sister's addiction, I do not care. I have traveled several roads with her only leading to dead ends. I refuse to watch my parents die right before my eyes because no on is willing to offer my sister the help she needs. Can anyone help my family?????

getting help              Reply to this Comment
i've been working at it for years! Getting help for my 32 yr.old bi-polar addict is finally going someplace. I've gotten him into a treatment facility that accepts SSI. I'm amazed he lived long enough to get this far. My advice is to keep pushing, demanding help and settle for nothing less, no matter what your financial situation everyone has a right to health care in this Country! YOU ARE AMERICANS! Damn it, our people deserve to be taken care of. Don't give up, go back everyday if you have to.
