4-MTA is a synthetic drug with the street name ‘flatliners’. Used in the party circuit, these cream-colored pills are similar to MDMA (ecstasy) and MDA drugs.
It was developed primarily as a slimming agent and an anti-depressant.It is a potent serotonin releaser and a stimulant.
If used in a drug cocktail, it causes adverse and negative reactions and result in fatal consequences.
It can be snorted, injected or swallowed. The effects are delayed and a user feels relaxed and calm. The effects are mild as compared to other speed drugs. Generally, users tend to overdose-due to the delayed reaction of its effects, resulting in increased doses. It can cause an increase in blood pressure and cause pronounced hypothermia.
It is also referred to as Golden eagle and considered a ‘drug of deception’ as it behaves like Ecstasy but is 33 times more potent. Drug peddlers target people who ‘love to dance all night’ for supplying the drug. Illegal recipes are sold on the Internet. Though not very popular due to its high-risk effects, there is a gradual increase in its usage due to stricter control and crackdown on pre-cursors, used for making Ecstasy.
