The alpha-ethyltryptamine is a psychoactive drug that belongs to the family of tryptamine. The company named Upjohn Chemical discovered alpha-ethyltryptamine as an anti-depressant under the name of Monase. But it was later moved into the list of US Schedule I in 1993 of illegal substances. Structurally it is related toα-methyltryptamine but the pharmacological effects of it are very much different.
Alpha-Ethyltryptamine is not a hallucinogenic drug, the resemblance of its effects are more like that of empathogen-entactogens. The Alpha-Ethyltryptamine has also been classified as the central nervous system stimulant and a tryptamine hallucinogen. This was found by the
Washington state board of pharmacy.
For the entactogenic effects commonly 75-150 mg is orally consumed. In both
Spain and
Germany illegitimate use has been documented as there were 2 deaths that took place due to the overdose of alpha-ethyltryptamine.
After finding that the immediate CSA control was essential to evade forthcoming danger to public safety the DEA utilized the emergency scheduling authority that it has to place this under the Schedule I.So the Washington State Board of Pharmacy placed the alpha-ethyltryptamine under the power of Schedule I of the controlled substances act.
