HOW CRACK COCAINE IS USED
This drug is unique because it gives a strong cocaine experience in small, reasonably priced units. Crack cocaine, is regularly sold in inexpensive, small dosage packs often known as a "blast" (equivalent to one hit or dollars worth), “nickel rocks”, “nickels” or "bumps" (denoting the cost of $5.00), and even “dimes”, “dime rocks”, or "boulders" and at times as “solids", “twenties”, "slabs" and “forties” in the United States. Quantities provided by such a purchase changes depending upon many factors, for example local availability, which is affected by geographic area.
A twenty might give a 1/4-gram or 1/2 gram on average, taking thirty minutes to one hour of consequence if hits are taken every now and then. Crossing the $20 or $40 mark, powder and crack cocaine sell in grams and fractions of ounces. In the middle level, sometimes crack cocaine is sold by weight in ounce, denoted by names for instance "eight-ball" (1/8th of an ounce) or "quarter" and "half" individually. Alternately, $20 pieces of crack cocaine are aggregated in units of "fifties” and "hundreds pack", referring to the number available. At this level, the wholesale price is about half the price on the street.
