    WHY DO PEOPLE USE DEPRESSANTS?

A substance that reduces the role or action of a particular body portion is referred to as a depressant or a downer. The action of the brain is reduced (which in turn makes a person sleepy or peaceful) when a person takes drugs which enhance the manufacturing of such amino acid. It is because if this property that depressants are used to treat sleeplessness or fretfulness.

Physicians recommend this drug in dealing aggressiveness, muscle convulsions, sleeplessness, pressure and nervousness.

On the other hand, the stimulating effects of depressants can also lead to the misuse of this drug.

Most of the depressants available in the market are legal. To treat sleeplessness and fretfulness, Benzodiazepines are regarded as a better option. To treat convulsions and anesthesia, Barbiturates are prescribed. These drugs are helpful when given in proper doses but taking barbiturates to get a high is a very risky thing to do. There isn’t much difference between overindulgence and little quantity. A mistake while taking the drug can cause respiratory disorder, coma and it can even take the life of the user.

Benzodiazepines are considered to be a much safer drug in contrast to barbiturates because even though they cause sedation, they do not cause death or breathing problems. On the other hand, they are risky as they can cause puzzlement, poor motor coordination, poor memory and over-sedation.
