    HOW DESIGNER DRUGS ARE USED

All amphetamine derivatives (N-analogs) are Designer Drugs. In spite of their extreme danger, these drugs enjoy a growing market and are currently being made in various covert labs (Amphetamine Labs).

Drugs like, Mescaline and Amphetamine are often manufactured with different chemical variations for their “feel-good” factor. In the late 1960’s, drugs like 4-Methly-2.

5-dimethoxyamphetamine or DOM was brought into the San Francisco drug picture. This drug was named STP, which is a short form for “Serenity, Tranquility and Peace”. Mood alterations and minor perceptual alternations can easily be achieved with doses of 1 to 3 milligram’s of this drug. However, larger doses can cause pronounced hallucinations that can last for 8 to 10 hours.

The major difference of these drugs lies in their capacity to modify the mood with or without producing overt hallucinations, their potency, and speed of onset and duration of action. These types of drugs are frequently used in parties called “raves’”. (Raves are all night dance parties that are held at unusual places, like warehouses, and feature computer generated pulsating and high volume music). Rarely are these drugs injected, instead they are sometimes snorted in and most of the times are taken orally. These drugs are often impure as they are produced in clandestine laboratories. The quantity of the drugs in capsules or tablets tends to vary.
