THE HISTORY OF DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE

DMT or Dimethyltryptamine is an indole that is hallucinogenic. It is found in many species of plants naturally. It is seen that in several South American shamanic practices, plants containing DMT are used. In the portions of ayahuasca and yopo it is one of the major active components.

A very powerful psychoactive substance is DMT. If it is injected, smoked or orally consumed with an MAOI, it can produce strong entheogenic feelings, which include true hallucinations. To help the drug user to stay mentally and physically healthy a trip sitter is used. This trip sitter is used to light the pipe when the user loses consciousness of it, in case of smoked Dimethyltryptamine. Effects of these induced DMT experiences can be journeys to paranormal lands, time travel, profound time dilation and meetings with trans-dimensional or mystical modalities or any other spiritual being which defies normal person’s visual or verbal description.

Digestive enzymes like monoamine oxidase breaks down DMT, which makes it inactive if consumed orally. It reacts only when it is combined with monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) and consumed.

The United Kingdom has classified DMT as a Schedule I/Class A drug and in the United States as a Schedule I drug. There are numerous religious activities in Brazil based on the utilization of Ayahuasca as an element of shamanistic rituals as these were recently legalized.

Illegalized?              Reply to this Comment
After reading DMT: The Spirit Molecule, and information and facts of the molecule/drug, what is the reason for illegalizing such a euphoric substance that does not have a death toll (nor life threatening overdoses), occures naturally in the brain every night, I could ramble on and on. It just seems queer that they would illegalize something that opens up peoples minds and energizes consciousness. I'm just looking for legitimate answerss.
