FENTANYL USE SIGNS
Fentanyl is an opioid analgesic which is eighty times more potent than morphine. Like other opioids, Fentanyl is habit forming and addictive. So it should be used only under proper medical guidance and prescription.
After taking Fentanyl, a person’s reactions and thinking may be impaired.
So he should not drive or indulge in activity that requires him to be alert. Some mild side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, anxiety and insomnia may occur. The patient may also experience mild nausea, vomiting and stomach disorders like pain, gas or constipation. Muscle stiffness or back pain, increased sweating and less urinating than usual may also be experienced by the patient. The doctor may be informed but the use of Fentanyl need not be stopped for these side effects.
Patient must get medical help immediately if any of the following side effects are felt.
. Difficulty in breathing.
. Shallow or weak breathing.
. Swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, face.
. Hives.
. Pale skin, easy bruising, bleeding.
. Cold and clammy skin.
. A light headed feeling, or severe fatigue, or a feeling of fainting.
In rare cases, some other side effects that are not listed above may occur. In such a case the doctor should be contacted immediately.
