    THE HISTORY OF GBL

The precursor chemical for the manufacture of GHB is GBL and this chemical is also used in a number of industrial cleaners. If GBL is added to water with GHB it cannot be detected easily. GBL is marketed as a health supplement, apart from being utilized industrial application. Certain products containing GBL are as a G.

    H. Revitalizer, invigorate, Firewater, Remforce, Insom-X, Gamma G, blue Nitro, longevity, Revivarant. However from the market Invigorate has been removed. Using 1,4 butanediol (BD) instead of GBL a number of products were again introduced. In order to produce GHB, the body synthesizes BD. Often some partygoers drink small quantities of GBL directly. It leads to severe physical reaction through the fluid’s regurgitation. The chemical is capable of increasing the effects of alcohol, and leads to coma, seizures, death and respiratory distress. On February 18 in the year 2000 GBL became a List 1 chemical. However Federal guidelines do not schedule BD. Renewtrient, Blue Nitro, liquid and pill forms are not available in the market, they have been removed.

GBL’s ingestion leads to severe physical reaction, due to the fluid’s regurgitation of the fluid. It leads to coma, death, seizures, and respiratory distress.
