The chemical GBL is poisonous, toxic, chemical that is powerful enough to kill weeds and dissolve glue. This is sold as a cleared liquid or a light-colored powder, which can be quite irritating to skin and mucous membranes when handled differently. This is a synthetic chemical, meaning it is prepared in laboratory room. The chemical acts as a depressant in humans and is not considered to be swallowed also.
However GBL became a popular club drug during 1990s.
Usually it is sold as a clear drug or light- colored powder also.The dose is capful of liquid or a teaspoon or two powders, depending on its purity since it may vary usually. GBL can dissolve easily in soft drinks, alcohol, and water. Since it is colorless as well as odorless, when it is added to a drink it goes undetected. The drug officials warn partygoers to be careful so that none slips any drug that is unlawful.
The chemical GBL and related groups became popular on club scene in the 1990’s especially among partygoers who are college-aged. The drug’s popularity has two main reasons among this age group: 1) When compared with alcohol and other drugs they are inexpensive 2) calories are also not contained in them.
