When used in an incorrect way, hallucinogens are hazardous. Few effects of hallucinogens can be harmful to the user particularly when he is without company. Some of such effects include hallucination, mood swings, reckless actions and space and time distortion. A person’s life can be in danger if he drives after taking hallucinogens.
A person may show violent behavior but this is usually uncommon. Even though the suicide rate was not high in several investigational groups (legal use) but the unpleasant psychological effects became so severe that the help of psychiatric started to rise. Hallucinogens can stimulate mental disorder (psychosis) responses, which can continue for a few months or more.
People who have unsound mind or those who take excess doses of the drug or taking the drug under weird situations or in different surroundings are more prone to have bad trips or negative responses. Till date, hallucinogens are considered to be non-hazardous and using them does not cause long lasting side effects. Although there is no proof of withdrawal symptoms or physical dependence with the long-term use of hallucinogens, some people may become mentally reliant on it. It will make them completely change their way of life with the constant use of the drug.
The users of hallucinogens may suffer from mood swings sometimes. They feel joyful and happy and are able to improve their sense of beauty with hallucinogens. On the other hand, the users can also go through sadness, loneliness, fear and horror.
