THE HISTORY OF HASHISH

Hash is assumed to be discovered in the Central Asia where the cannabis plant was said to be first grown in these areas. The Himalayas is the place where the plant is said to be originated. 

Eventually, this drug started to spread to different parts of the earth once the Arabs started to collect and sell hash. Soon after, North Africa (particularly Morocco) and the Middle East (Lebanon) joined the line.

During the twentieth century, the use of hashish rose, as it became a well-liked recreational activity especially among the hippies in the United States and Europe. In the 1960s and 1970s, the export of hashish reached its peak. For a number of reasons, consumption of hashish reduced drastically in the United Stated during the 1980s. The Soviet war that took place in Afghanistan was one of such reasons. As a result, marijuana started to become well liked in the North America and new growing ways (like growing marijuana inside the house) was promoted.

A belt extending from North Africa to North India are the regions where hashish is customarily grown. This drug is nearly not grown in the tropics and it is usually manufactured in desert situations. Since Morocco is the largest manufacturer of Hashish, it is more widespread in Europe than in the United States. Hashish is not customarily manufactured in the United States.
