HOW METHAMPHETAMINE IS USED
Generally, this drug is taken orally for medical purposes. On the other hand, it can be smoked, swallowed, inserted anally (with or without dissolution in water) or in to the urethra, dissolved in water and injected or it can also be injected without water (called dry shot) or sniffed if it is used for recreational purposes. Just like any drug, which can cause addiction, the possibility if addiction will be high if it is taken by methods, which will lead to the concentration in the blood to increase. This is because the preferred effects of the user are felt much faster and with great intensity.
As smoking can cause the concentration in the blood to rise in the shortest period of time, it is considered as the fastest mechanism. This is because the drug can reach the brain directly through smoking. After smoking, injection, sniffing, anal insertion and swallowing will follow the lead.
Unlike tobacco, which burns and is inhaled by the user, smoking of methamphetamine will vaporize it to create fumes. Methamphetamine is usually smoked by using an aluminum foil by heating it below by a flame or by using glass pipes. ‘Chasing the white dragon’ is the sentence which is used to refer to the former method. This is taken from ‘chasing the dragon’, which means the smoking of opium.
