The street name of methcathinone is ‘Cat’. The chemical compounds present in this drug are similar to cathinone and methamphetamine. Methcathinone is produced secretly and it is available in hydrochloride salt form which is extremely soluble in water.
This drug can be taken orally by combining it with a drink and dissolving in water and then injection the contents intravenously. However, the most frequently used method of administration is through sniffing. The abuse caused by this drug is very strong which can be compared to methamphetamine abuse and it can cause actions of amphetamine. In the year 1993, methcathinone was classified as a Schedule I drug of the CSA.
In 1928, this drug was originally made in
Germany and was used in the 1930s and 1940s as a drug to fight depression in the
Soviet Union. People started to use methcathinone as a leisure drug in the
Soviet Union from the 1960s.
Around 1994, methcathinone was suggested to be classified as a Schedule I drug by the U.S Government to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
When the user take excess quantity of methcathinone then will be become puzzled and may suffer from psychosis or gentle paranoia. When the user discontinues taking the drug, the symptoms will go away immediately.
Even though this drug is not extensively used in the
United States, it is well-like by the people in the upper peninsula of
Michigan (the place where it is frequently manufactured).
