THE HISTORY OF PCP
Phencyclidine or PCP is an illegal drug with many other names such as peace pill, DOA, Rocket Fuel, Hog or Angel Dust. This drug was first made to be used as an anesthetic in the 1950s.
This drug was stopped from using as anesthetic when a few people went through psychotic reactions after using PCP. At present, PCP has been labeled as illegal and they are now available illegally (contaminating other street drugs most of the time).
Actually, in place other drugs (like mescaline and LSD), PCP is now sold.
The users of PCP get detached from their surroundings and as such PCP is considered as a dissociative anesthetic. These people are aware of where they are but they do not feel as if they are part of the surroundings. PCP affects different people in a different way. Depending on the amount and methods of use, PCP can operate as an analgesic, a depressant, a hallucinogen or a stimulant.
Hallucinogens, like LSD, can cause diverse effects on a person as compared to PCP. PCP will alter the image of a person’s body instead of creating visual illusions. Moreover, PCP can also make a person confused and scared apart from the above stated effect.
