PHENOBARBITAL USE SIGNS

A barbiturate that is used as a sleep aid and to treat some types of epilepsy, including partial seizures and generalized or grand mal seizures is called Phenobarbital.

Bear in mind that Phenobarbital might be habit forming and ensure that you take the medication precisely as prescribed.

Without fail, you should tell your doctor if you are in pain or if you have constant pain before the prescription of Phenobarbital.

Depression, excitement, confusion in the elderly or weakened individuals, and excitement in children may be caused by the use of Phenobarbital.

If your adrenal glands are not functioning properly or if you have been diagnosed with a liver disease, the Phenobarbital has to be prescribed with caution.  So ensure that your doctor knows about this.

Phenobarbital may render you less alert or tired.  Hence be cautious while operating machinery or doing any activity, which requires full mental alertness, or while driving, until you are sure about your reaction to this medication.

Avoid taking alcoholic beverages while on Phenobarbital, because it may increase the effect of alcohol.
