ADHD AND ATTENTION PROBLEM
According to the recent researches on attention problems, doctors say that women and girls get more affected with attention deficit problem in many cases. Moreover, even when girls are hyperactive, they do not show the same public symptoms as the boys do.
Since hyperactive boys are disruptive, they easily get the required help. However, girls attract less attention, since they mostly behave better.
Also, the attention they receive looks more like a character problem than attention problem for them.
Kids with attention problems often grow up to have attention problems as adults. In adults, the common symptoms include emotional reactivity, disorganization, low self-worth, under-achievement, depression, or impaired relationships, with disorganization being the most persistent.
The problem of disorganization may reach mythic extents. It can mean overflowing cupboards, missed meetings, baby piles making up great piles of stuffs, befuddled thinking, chronic lateness, etc, all being related to the system of erratic attention. For instance, a woman simply sits down if she is unable to decide where to begin from, when she has a lot of things to do.
Also, the person feels frustrated and ashamed to find that what they find difficult is so easy for the others. One feels neglected as the friends and colleagues continue moving on in their lives while the patient feels trapped forever, like Sisyphus, busy organizing papers that disorganize immediately. People stop asking, “What do you do these days?” since “organizing” is always the answer.
