Parents must know that if a child is suffering from ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder then it is not because they have been a bad parent or because the child was stubborn or had a defying attitude. They must know that generic factors cause Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and is a medical problem, which may lead to certain type of neurological differences.

It is true that a child may defiant by nature irrespective of the fact whether he has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or does not have. Generally speaking, a rebelling, selfish or a defiant child is considered as a moral related case and not any neurological matter.

It doesn’t mean that such behaviors can be excused even if the child is suffering from ADHD. These forms of behavior have to be corrected. Parents have to take charge and control such behaviors irrespective of the fact whether the child has or doesn’t have ADHD.

Many parents too need training. They are absent from the home the whole day. Thus the children don’t have any model parents to depend on. This problem becomes more acute if the child is impulsive, inattentive and hyperactive.

Thus parents should join parenting classes, which are conducted by the local church or the local therapist. The classes are indeed a good investment for your child’s future.
