    ADHD DISORDER IN A CHILD

Often parents find their children being impulsive, hyperactive and inattentive even before they have stated with their schooling. Children may not be able to pay much attention or sit too long for television or games. However, even if the parents observe the common signs relating to ADHD in their children, it does not necessarily mean that the child has the ADHD problem.

Since rate of growth and development varies in children, a professional’s opinion regarding the child’s behavior and growth is very essential.

One may wait for the child to enter school, for properly confirming ADHD.

However, ADHD may remain unnoticed by family members, including parents. This may continue till troubles at school get noticed. ADHD is more apparent at schools than at other places since schools are task oriented and very structured. Because of these reasons teachers are often the first ones to notice ADHD in children.

Since teachers interact with all kinds of children every day, after a period of time, they can start analyzing which child has learning difficulties, as compared to the other average children. A teacher may often report this to the parents, suggesting an ADHD test for the child. However, one thing that a teacher may fail to notice is a child blending into the woodworks and being passive.

Often ADD children tend to stay aloof from others and remain quiet. Such qualities do not show much in the class. Such qualities do not give the impression of the ADHD disorder as well, since they are not seen as the typical ADHD children who are hyperactive.
