Balancing emotions and enabling to think sequentially, plan and act accordingly are the main functions of the pre-frontal region of the cerebral cortex. It is also responsible for programming our thought and actualizing them in a proper order.
This part of the brain when active, help us to focus on one particular thing at a time. When a human being focuses on one thing he tends to emote in a balanced manner, plan about things ahead and work in a uniformly step-by-step pattern.
When a person or a child is affected with ADHD then this part of the brain becomes completely defunct. As a result he loses the ability to think logically himself.
In this kind of a situation when the ADHD syndrome shuts down the pre-frontal cortex then it tends to look for an external agent to get stimulated. This is a stage when the brain becomes sensitive and soaks up everything that is received through the sensory nerves.
This is to mean that if a child affected with ADHD is taught things related to what he wants and tries to do then he stays focused on that particular thing.
