    ADOLESCENT YOUTH AND DEPRESSION

It is not easy to identify depression among the teenagers because being temperamental is very ordinary among the growing teenagers. An adolescent may feel embarrassed to seek for help because of the various feelings that he or she may go through. They may not be conscious about the signs of depression and as such they may not realize that they have a very ordinary sickness, which you can treat because there are a lot of help available to treat this illness.

One of the signs that a teenager is suffering from depression is when he or she begins to talk about things that can harm him or herself or anything suicidal.

Other signs of depression includes decline in the school performance and trouble with power. Some other things, which can also lead to the decline in school performance, are absentmindedness, inattentiveness, impatience, and lack of eagerness, agitation and lack of inspiration. These things are which are considered to be a different problem altogether most of the time. People do not recognize that these can be signs of some serious problems like substance abuse, problems relating to rage and inability to control the anger.

Being cautious and observant is necessary so that you don’t feel regretful later on. Do you know anyone who has shown signs that are mentioned above? If yes then encourage them to see a specialist who can help that person with his or her problems. It is not necessary that the patient has to be a teenager in order for you to help him or her; it can be a person of any age. The specialist will then select an appropriate program or medication that will help the patient. Bear in mind that assisting someone, regardless of whether the help is overdue, can save a person.
