DRUG ABUSE IN SCHOOL: TESTING POLICIES

Just like most of the employers of any firms, the school authorities have also started to execute policies to test the use of drugs among the students. Most of the executives in many schools refer to the figures linked with the performance and safety of the users of drugs. The acceptance of drug testing has increased considerably; be it for the purpose of testing among students or as a process to prevent the use of drugs.

Those who support the drug testing in school regularly refer to the information and figures issued by the government.

These figures have reported that the numbers of teenagers who use drugs have been increasing every year for the past number of years. All those people who support the compulsory drug testing put forward that these actions will be helpful to curb the use of drugs among the teenagers. The high school students may stop using drugs in fear of being kicked out from school or fear of being punished by their parents.

Even though most of the officials would like to make the policy of making drug testing compulsory, most of the time these testing require the prior approval of the parents. Usually, most of the schools would ask for some proof on which the testing is to be done. A student may be asked to go for a drug test if he or she looks distant or has red or glassy eyes.

The testing of athletes in the high school is more ordinary in comparison to random or suspicion based drug testing in the high school. Those students who want to participate in school sports must sign a release for the purpose of screening for drugs. This is done in almost every school district. It has been reported that the high school athletes (especially the male students) are more prone to drug abuse and because of this, drug screening has become ordinary in most schools. All this information along with the fear of injury throughout the competition has stimulated the discussion and introduction of drug screening among athletes in high school.

I am behind the testing 100% although i do have more of a concern of the procedure of the matter.First, suspicion of drug use @ school should be to parents, rather than school taking things in there own hands and do as they see fit..this is from experience...
