my husbands addicted to painkillers and almost overdosed              Reply to this Comment
my husband recently (3 months ago) started taking up to 30 painkillers a day and a month ago nearly overdosed in front of our five year old daughter. I told him he needed to get into rehab or we're done. He lied (as usual) but no result. I kicked him out the next evening. He has been out of the house for a little over a month with a restraining order (protecting my kids and i) Staying with a cousin who kicked him out this evening for being to high to walk or talk. All the while telling me he is better and no on pills. I love im, but i love my kids more. Pray for me please....i know it will be ok. But if he doesn't get better i am doin just fine as a single mommy of two at the age of 23!

Bayview Transitions residental drug and mental health program              Reply to this Comment
Transitions was an amazing program for me. If you are addicted to drugs and are mentally ill this could be the place for you. The reason I say this place "could" be for you is because you have to want it, recovery. If you work the progam like I did I promise you sucess. I spent eight months in Transitions and all the honest, sincere, beautiful staff at Transitions made it a loving. growing enviroment. I am now on my own and have passed up many opportunities to use drugs and alcohol. It's all around me but I keep going to meetings and apply what I learned in Transitions. Work the program do what you are told (they won't tell you to do anything you shouldn't be doing already)and get off the streets.

You should walk to the nearest school and talk to the counselor or principal there. They can get you and your sister out of the house and to some place safer.

Clients within the criminal justice system              Reply to this Comment
I am relieved to finally hear that other people understand that people in the criminal justice system are CLIENTS, not criminals, thank you. Also that there are so many individuals who are using substance abuse because they are not going to a doctor and the community does not understand what chemical imbalance and dual diagnosis is. My fiance is sitting in County Jail without his medication for depression and anxiety, and although I feel he needs court ordered rehab with counseling and dual diagnosis services, but not to sit for months without medication that helps him. I need help and this is one of the first useful websites I have seen. I am asking for some direction to take so that I can help him to help himself. Thank you for your time.
