I believe that there needs to be websites and halfway houses with in an hour of Chisago Lakes Minnesota for people needing help in Eastern Minnesota!!! By boyfriend needs to find a halfway house near home so he can still work at his job!!! PLEASE HELP US FIND A CLOSE PLACE FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!

a good friend of mine went through the treatment center in chandler arizona last year just before the holidays. at first it was not where she wanted to be. about two thirds of the way through she saw some tools that she could use and joined in. since then she has fallen down a couple of times but she keeps on getting back up. for this i believe she can thank not only her mother but the clinic in az. i think it has helped her to realize that alcohol was not the real problem. it was only a bandaid for the real issues. she is an intelligent beautiful person and i hope she continues to work on the issues. after we know what the real problem is then it is the journey to find resolve for some of the issues. no one can be all things to all people, including oneself. when we include ourselves in the non-perfect world we then know if we fall down we get back up and continue to be busy living.

i actually attended this hospital.. and it helped me so much.. i almost killed myself until i went here.. this place is amazing and i wouldnt be here living if i wasnt sent to lyndon oaks

If it wasn't for Family House Of Louisiana in Harvey I couldn't be writting this right now. The staff exspecially has been angels sent from heaven. If you ever need help with drugs and alochol there's hope for you Family House will help believe me I know. I am an graduate with 10 months clean with my children.. Thank You God Bless.

Aimee, The is a detox facility in chicago called MRODS. They put you under general anetheisa and then you will take something called naltrexone. Check it out, they can help you! Good luck and Get Help, You will have a whole new life!

Hi- I feel that if addicts had easier access to MMT centers more would get help.It infuriates me that because people are uneducated on MMT they judge the treatment and the people in it as bad or dangerous.They don't want the MMT centers to be in their neighborhoods. Another crazy rule that MMT centers have to follow is a clinic can't be within a 1/2 mile of schools and childcare centers. That's pretty much everywhere!! If they are so concerned about protecting the children then they need to get treatment for their addict parents and teachers!!If these people would wake up they'd see that they have numerous addicts of some kind in their neighborhoods already! I would much rather have someone on MMT around than those who are doing illegal drugs and alchohol. Chemical dependency is an illness just like obesity, diabetes and depression. I think addicts are missing a chemical in the brain & need opiates to make them feel normal just like someone going through depression needs an antidepressant or SSRI'S to make them feel normal.They need to realize that no one is doing MMT to catch a buzz or get high,but only to feel normal.MMT patients work very very hard at their recovery. On average a person has to drive 2-4 hours a morning to dose (some longer)because of lack of treatment centers.I wonder how these same people who are blocking new clinics being opened would feel if they had to drive that far to get medical care. I urge those of you reading this if you aren't doing so already to keep writing your state's officials in defense of MMT. All of us working together do make a difference. In VA for example a huge letter writing campaign was done and it temporarily lifted the moritorium that was preventing new clinics from being opened. Maybe one day soon by raising public awareness the discrimination will stop! Thanks! =)

My boyfriend just got sent to a Pyramid Rehabilitation Center in PA. He was sentenced about 3 months, not only will he be missing many birthdays in the family, but also Christmas, New Years, and Valentine's Day. Send him back home!

There are some good people at pyramid. Instead of thinking about what your boyfriend is "missing" think about what he could miss out on if he doesn't stop getting sentenced. THis is a time when he can make positive changes in his life so that there can be a better future for himself... and you. He'll be back, but if you support him through this, he'll be back with a new & improved sense of self. Good luck : )

I realize that sometimes it's difficult to be thankful. I am prone to depression, but have never wanted to hurt myself or others around me. I had leukemia at 12 and went to hell and came right back by the Grace of God. 25 years after the fact I sit here and type this hoping that someone reading this might understand that life is so worth living. It's heartbreaking to read of all the pain, but the sun does come up every morning - embrace it. When the sun isn't shining, the moon is. Just remember that every day of life is one closer to death - make the most of what you have, smile and be happy!

I just want to send a little hope to those that are hurting. I've been a recovering addict for almost 9 years and it can be done. I didn't realize how much I was barely surviving before I got clean. The best suggestion I can say is get to a meeting [NA,AA, whatever, and don't stop going until you find a fellowship you feel a part of]. It's not been easy along the way either. My 16 year old has been gone just 2 weeks to a long term residential facility for drugs and mental health issues. She is also a cutter, a very bad one. My mother also committed suicide. So really, messed up thinking and feeling run in my family. But there is hope, because if I can find life, purpose, joy, and the ability to stay clean, anyone can. Recovery is for people that want it, not need it. If all that needed it were at a meeting, we'd have to rent a football stadium. Unfortunately, it just doesn't go like that. And I've seen people die. It doesn't have to be like that for anyone who wants something different.
