concern over a friendReply to this Comment
my friend just went through a separation from her husband and has turn to zanecx and alcohol to cope with it. Her sister and I are really afraid of what the combination could do to her. I never have been down this avenue thus I don't know how to approach it.

Friend in your rehabReply to this Comment
My friend just told me he's coming to your facility next week for a 30 day stint. He's severly addicted to Crack. Will he be able to call me from time to time during those 30 days? I'd like to help in any way I can. Thanks.
a friend who needs helpReply to this Comment
I have been down this road a few times in the last 25 years. I was an addict myself, (now recovering). The best way to help friends with addictions is to understand a bit about the disease. Al-Anon meetings are for friends and family members of alcoholics (and addicts, by proxy). Has been very helpful to me to learn how to cope with husbands addictions. Still hard, but it helps. And your friend will need to get to the point she wants help before she will get it. You won't be able to make her want it, but you getting educated about it can help.
Good luck, God bless.

I have been in and/or around NA since 1983. It works, it really does. a meeting a day, make a few new friends (who don't use anymore), work the steps. Treatment center is a good idea if you can't get yourself to go to the meetings and stay clean. Narcotics Anonymous should be in your phone book, or look for website.
You can do it, really.

help for commentorsReply to this Comment
Are these posters able to get help/comments by someone in the field of Rehabilition Counselors? I think this general forum should be moderated and help should be given to those that ask for it.
In my opinion; 30 days is not long enough, 90 with ongoing check ins, once a month, for the first year. You have to be strong and really ready for just 30 days. I don't know what the stats are on those making it in a 30 day program, but if you/someone did - Congrats! Way to take your life back!

your husbandReply to this Comment
I was a crack addict for many years. I didn't get help til I was real bad. I ended up in legal trouble, and landed in a 30 day rehab. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned all about my addiction,as they have you going to group 24/7. I now have a year clean.
The only thing I can tell you is that your husband has to want to stop,he has to admit he has a problem. You can't enable him, trust me I know. My boyfriend enabled me for a while, and I never had consequences. All you can do is step back and take care of yourself. You can't help him. It's something he has to do,alone, you can be there for him,but you can't be a crutch.
It'll only bring you down.
Good luck, I'll say a prayer for you.
