Choosing drug rehabilitation or a drug rehab program largely depends on the drug and type of addiction. For successful drug abstinence, user’s co-operation is crucial. Selecting a drug rehab program can probably be one of the most difficult decisions you have ever made. Each rehab center differs in the kind of programs they offer, credentials and effectiveness of the programs. A drug rehab program must be designed to meet specific needs of individuals. You can choose from a variety of rehab programs with various options that include inpatient, outpatient, residential, and/or short stay. The length of the program mainly depends on the severity of addiction. While certain drug rehab programs may be carried out without disrupting your normal life, others may require a total change in lifestyle and long stay in the hospital. In fact, physicians often advise their patients to relocate in order to break free from old habits. You may greatly benefit from including on-site medical care in a drug rehab program, as nurses and doctors provide round the clock medical care to individuals. In addition, medical staff plays a pivotal role in monitoring the progress of each individual and make changes in the treatment plan if necessary. Family involvement at every stage of the treatment is crucial for speedy recovery. The skills taught during the program must be incorporated in daily life to keep addiction at bay. Many rehab programs offer a follow-up program to help individuals cope with the pressures of their new lifestyle. Such a program is also vital to monitor recovery of individuals. A quality drug rehab program looks into various physical and psychological issues to reach the core of the problem. What can you expect from a drug rehab program No matter what type of rehab program you choose, each one has a common objective: to help individuals overcome their addictive behavior and liberate them from the abusive and addictive behavior patterns that have taken control of their life. Initially, a trained professional will diagnose the case to determine the traits and habits of a patient in order to select an appropriate treatment program. For this purpose, number of questions will be asked pertaining to his social interaction habits and other important factors that can give an idea about the lifestyle of the patient. Detox program - Following the diagnosis, a detoxification program is required to prepare the patient’s body for treatment and will typically include cleansing the body to eradicate toxins formed due to drug abuse. Elimination of toxins is crucial to avoid relapse that can damage the organs of the body. Treatment – Treatment methods may vary depending on information obtained during diagnosis, individual health, type of drug used, and the extent of addiction. While some treatments may be mild and devoid of side effects, others may be more intense and may cause noticeable side effects. Therapy is supported by counseling sessions that are required to monitor the progress of patients and help patients to deal with negative feelings. Ongoing treatment – Patients are encouraged to visit a certain number of times to evaluate their progress and discuss any issues that may bother them and hamper recovery. This is usually the last, but the most important stage in the recovery process. The main aim of the drug rehab program is to treat patients effectively and support them to ensure permanent recovery from substance abuse. |

methadone dosage Reply to this Comment A family friend is currently in a methadone program. She is currently on a dose (I do not know the dosage) which makes her sleep for 2-3 hours after her initial dose, take a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon, and go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00 (usually 11 pm). What is the maximum dosage that the clinic is allowed to give an opiod addict? She is also very aggressive concerning homework with her children and has violent events with her husband (throwing vases and destroying furniture). I know this can't be normal. How can we help her? Please answer as soon as you can. We are at our wit's end. Thank you. methadone dosage Reply to this Comment How old is the woman? What is her attitude about her addiction and recovery? It sounds to me that she needs a psychiatric diagnosis. Will she see a psychiatrist? What is her attitude about her behavior? How much insight does she have about the situation? You can email me at jackie@mothersanity.com if you like. Michelle Reply to this Comment Hi Michelle. I hope this finds you well. You made a comment about being a "drug head" and that there's nothing you can do about it. Do you want to do something about it and just feel like no one is there to help you? Please go to an NA or AA meeting and you will find a wealth of resources to get you started on the road to recovery. If it's just that you don't want to do anything about it, unfortunately no one can do anything to help until you want help. I hate to see people in your situation because many times they do want to get clean and live a great life but just don't know where to start. I hope that you will soon realize that there is a life outside of getting high. Take care. Concerned Reply to this Comment I to once felt the way you do with alcohol. It only get's worse if you don't get help. I felt as I counln't turn to my family they wounln't understand. And I decided to drink one last time. I took 100 Tylenol pm and 100 Advil along with a huge bottle of vodka. I just felt like a didn't deserve to life. I was a horrible mother, not worthy of my family nothing I did was good enough. How I woke up, no one knows. I almost died of liver failure. I needed a liver transplant in order to survive, is what the doctors told my family. Since I was a drinker, I was not qualified. Only God saved my life through the power of prayer. I should not be alive. Monday I go to rehab for 30 days. I'm ready to get my life back. be the person a should be without not being in control. I'm tired of living that way, I almost lost my life to alcohol and depression. I'm 29 years of I have three beautiful children that need there Mother back. What ever that your going through believe me it only gets worse, so I ask you if your tired of living this way? Do you want your life back? be a better person, so other's can count on, and trust you? It's Never to late to get your life back... May God be with us through our recovery, with him Anything is possible I am living prove of that. And if you don't believe in God believe in something believe in yourself. Your not alone, always remember that. rehab Reply to this Comment I'm afraid my son is using drug, don't know what kind. He sleeps alot and stays up at night, He hardly eats. He told a friend he is going thru rehab. But they having been joking if you can't afford the drugs go to rehab they give you free drugs to try and ween you off. Is this true ? Rehab Reply to this Comment My husband got drug tested by his parents and tested positive for pot. This is a weird situation and I am not sure what to think or do and would like thoughts and advice. He works for his family is why they tested him. I have never smoked pot, and do not like that he has done it before, but he seriously does it about twice a year. His parents think that he has a serious problem and are requiring him to go to rehab to keep his job...which I told him he should be thankful they are letting him keep it. However, I know that he is not a "pothead." He is going to rehab this week, how long do you think he will be in treatment and what will it likely consist of?? I know that once he gets to treatment and is tested, he will test negative for any drug. It just so happened he had smoked pot about a week before he was tested. I am upset with him for even smoking pot at all, but I don't really feel justified in treating him like a drug addict myself (I totally understand why his parents want him to go to rehab though). I guess I am wondering how you guys think I should treat this situation...? Rehab for non-addict? Reply to this Comment MOST inpatient rehabs will interview & drug test b4 accepting a patient. If the facility doesn't determine person ACTUALLY has an addiction they will not accept them. If that happens perhaps counseling &/or attending some of the Anonymous-type meetings (AA/NA/CA) would help his family feel more secure. Maybe that AND doing periodic, unannounced drug testing. Sounds like he has a wonderful, loving & concerned family! Serenity Abilene Texas Reply to this Comment Has anyone been to serinty house in Abilene Texas? I leave Wends. Just seeing if anyone had any info on What I should expect? | ||||||||
