I am looking for a group home for my husband's 24 year old son who needs a structured environment that dispenses his medications. He would thrive in a structured environment with accountability and that gave him the ability to work. He is now living in a very unstable environment that is very frustrating to him but without options he stays because he knows he would be on the street. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm relocating from NYC to Kannapolis, NC. I also plan to change careers. I'm excited about returning to my work with young people. I'm establishing a non-profit organization that will, among other things, set up group home in Kannapolis. Where do I start? Any advice?

I am currently residing in the Orion Parolee Service Center, in Van Nuys California. This is a subsidiary of BSSW, and so it is to you I register this complaint. I am not a representation of this states' high recidivism rate, but also of the redeeming power of education. The management of the Orion House reflects the poor steerage of the BSSW, the residence is hovel. The prevailing social environment is that you'd find on every prison yard in california. Why, because the place is operated in much the same manner, from the counting procedures, the staff attitudes dealing with the residents, to stacking the residents 16 deep in a dorm setting, restrictive policies that seem to sabotage those that are trying such as myself. I am a full time student at Cal State University Northridge, and am not allow to own a laptop computer, instrumental to my Comp300 class, and the amount of writing assignments required at the upper level of academics. Especially in my field of Sociology. I am currently on restriction for possession of pornographic DVD's, my second offense, I am also a 46 year old man. This restriction prohibits me from utilizing the universitys computers and research materials, placing at risk of doing poorly. Before I leave I would to say this, often we use terms like rehabilitation, and recidivism without a clear understanding of what they actually entail. We should be careful what we say, accountability could be litigious.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a service delivery system that takes responsibility for provid-ing a customized array of medical, mental health and rehabilitative services to adults who have been diagnosed with specific disorders including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder or major depression, in addition to co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Because of the severe nature of the clients’ symptoms, they may have a lot of trouble simply taking care of their basic needs, protecting themselves, keeping safe and adequate housing, or staying employed. I agree that there's not much info from Arkansas Govt. My sister is not an addict but has serious mental problem and cannot manage her own affairs, and I would like to recommend to her a place where she could get therapy and have a stable place to live. Did you find any info?
