    Definitions of Treatment Services
Criminal justice clients- Clients within the criminal justice system sometimes need substance abuse treatment. There are specific steps and guidelines that need to be followed to have a criminal justice client admitted into a substance abuse treatment program. The first step is to determine eligibility. This requires that a panel decide which criminal justice clients need substance abuse treatment, and how much and what type of treatment is needed.
Medicaid- The term Medicaid often evokes stares of bewilderment from many and is easily confused with other medical assistance services with similar names. Simply put, Medicaid is a program that pays for medical assistance for certain individuals and families with low incomes and resources.
Methadone maintenance- Methadone maintenance treatment is a medication that reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings for opioid drugs. Opioid drugs include heroin, codeine, and oxycodone. Methadone does not induce the euphoria, or sedative effects that these other drugs cause and has been proven to be extremely effective as a maintenance medication.
Outpatient- Outpatient drug rehabilitation means that a person does not live in the facility for treatment, but come to the facility for classes, visits with specialists or group meetings. Outpatient drug rehabilitation centers are more long-term and patients can attend programs for as long as needed. A variety of techniques and program intensity levels are used to achieve this goal.
Pregnant/postpartum women- Depression affects millions of pregnant and postpartum women each year, regardless of race, ethnic background, color, or social standing. Recently, controversy over the treatment of these women has come into the forefront but most professionals will admit that the mental illnesses that present themselves during and after pregnancy deserve immediate attention.
Substance abuse treatment- Substance abuse treatment is often individualized to each patient, but there are a few steps that each patient needs to take to become drug free. The first of these steps in recognizing the problem. Denial used to be mistakenly believed to be part of the drug addiction symptoms, but recent research is showing it is not. People trying to help a person accept that they have a substance abuse problem need to show empathy, and respect.
Substance abuse treatment services- Substance abuse is seen by most physicians and mental health professionals as a long-term illness and so many substance abuse treatment services are designed to try and find the best way to help someone cope. The people that are considered to have substance use disorder are those who can not stop and whose use is compulsive. A person’s genetics, mental health, and stress levels all have a role in determining if a person has substance use disorder. Substance abuse actually changes the brain, and these changes remain in effect for a long time.

the family that pickets your clinic              Reply to this Comment
there is a family that pickets the discovery every year because their young daughter died of a drug overdose. i think this is really lame because the girls mother sells the very same drugs that killed her daughter. how can she try to raise drug awareness knowing what she is doing. and then blame it on the clinic not herself for giving her daughter the drugs i mean isnt that kind of messed up. i think what this clinic is doing is great for the people that really want the help and i want to offer you some ability to fight this battle. its not your fault that this girl is dead you did everything to help her i think it is really crummy that discovery house is getting all the blame. she acts like she is the best thing trying to raise drug awareness but if she really cared she wouldnt be selling the drugs that killed her daughter to all of her daughters friends. ive tried telling authorities but they wont listen this poor young womans child is destined to be a drug addict if he doesnt get away from all this he should be able to live a healthy and as normal as possible life without having to be identified by his mothers death and addiction. i mean come on "this is so and so and his mom died of a drug od and she was addicted to drugs her whole life" why they dont say that he is a very bright and loving young man meant to do something good in this world everyone and i mean everyone knows what the woman that pretends to care on day a year does when she gets home. and that poor young man has to deal every day with his mothers death being thrown up in his face unable to move on with his life as smoothly as possible. so heres to you discovery house hats off for all your hard work thank you for really caring and wanting to help and maybe this will give you something to fight with next time they come to picket
